This initiative to not let the food legacy die is a brainchild of Sameer Chona and Vickrham (Vicky). Sameer is known in the food industry for his evergreen venture, the Chonas in Khan Market that was patronized by many for its delectable dishes. Vickrham, the much popular name in the food and hospitality fraternity as a writer and blogger is the genius behind the concept and the menu of Kissa – Zaike ka. He has curated several food festivals with hotels in the past years.

Vickrham has grown up loving and indulging in rich recipes from undivided Punjab courtesy the culinary passion of his grand parents and great grandparents, and this initiative is a step towards bringing original recipes to Delhi’s metropolitan food scène. His grandfather ( Nanaji ) from Peshawar and Nani from Rawalpindi and relatives from different parts of now in Pakistan used to come to their place and cook super meals ranging from Med, Arabic and Afghan , due to their business links with people in those regions.

Kissa brings the original recipes from Afghan, Baloch, and small local places where Punjabi and Muslim community gelled so well together their was no difference at all in the cooking styles. Dishes from people’s homes – slow-cooked meats, curries that comfort taste buds, hand-pound kebabs that are seriously rare to order in, and breads that simply melt in your hands before they melt in your mouth.

Keeping the cosmopolitan culture in consideration, Kissa has also included the dishes which are popular amongst the crowds line the Butter chicken and the Biryani at the same time Chicken Mandi, Murg Chole , Peshawari Chapli Kebab, Turkish Adhana Kebab and much more enlightens the menu with all its sheen.

I personally relished the turkish kebabs, mutton chapli kebabs which were just perfect with the right spices and so soft ..the kebabs were made to perfection and we even tried the koyla dahi kebab. Melt in mouth quality with lovely texture. Then came the main course which had Tariwala mutton kofta, which was slow cooked meat balls in mutton curry and so delicious that I could not resist. My favorite was the Mandi chicken which had the right mix of flavors with cashew nuts, pistas and what not. The Balochi mutton korma and Punjabi machhi taridar were dishes that we really relished to satiate our taste buds. You should also try their breads which are good like buzlama roti, kashmiri Bakra khaani.

Kissa – Zaike ka is a story of how the old meets the new, how the forgotten methods of preparations can make their ways into homes, events, and occasions, especially those that call for it in spirit.
