The Tumbler Knife Sharpener consists of a magnetic angle block (20 and 15 degrees) and a rolling diamond sharpening stone and steel. There are several examples of this style of knife sharpener which uses the counter as a reference plane and a block to hold your knife at the proper angle. The sharpening stone rolls across the counter against the blade edge. This works great and it is super easy to use. However, smaller knives may not clear the top edge of the angle block. The block is around 25mm high, and around 58mm wide. The magnets that hold the blade in place are centered top to bottom This is fine for typical chef knives which can rest on their back on the counter with plenty of clearance over the angle block. Steak knives and paring knives are not wide enough to clear the block edge when centered on the magnets. This means you have to carefully prop the tip and tang with your fingers. I designed this object to slip around the magnetic block on the 20 degree side. It sits back from the overhang enough to be out of the way of the roller, but provides enough of a shelf to hold up narrower blades. This keeps them even with the counter and makes it much easier to work the roller against the edge.
